This Memorial Day weekend, May 25-27, the Mimbres Region Arts Council presents one of the Southwest's premiere FREE Blues Festivals. Starting on Friday and wrapping up Sunday afternoon, the Festival features not only the brightest rising stars of the Blues but classic respected performers that have toured the world.
Presented in Silver City's Gough Park (pronounced "Goff"), headlining groups Tramped Under Foot and Rosie Ledet and the Zydeco Playboys will lead the outstanding line-ups of Saturday and Sunday performers. Each of this year’s 9 groups offers a unique take on the blues, and will take turns performing throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday, beginning around noon each day on the Main Stage.
There will be a wide variety of food, beverage, and artisan vendor booths set up in the park. Between 55 and 60 vendors will offer many meal options for you to feast on while you enjoy the live music, as well as some beautiful, professional arts and crafts.
This fun-filled weekend also includes a Friday Night Kick-Off Dance at the Buffalo Dance Hall, featuring Pat “Guitar Slim” Chase. The Festival Musician Jam Session will be hosted in the same venue Saturday night and presents an opportunity to view Saturday’s performers play together on stage. Tickets to both of these special events will be $12, and may be purchased on the MRAC website (www.mimbresarts.org), in the office (1201 N. Pope St.), or over the phone at (575) 538-2505.
