The PNM Fine Arts Friday Program is supported by grants from the PNM Foundation and MRAC to bring artists into classrooms of kindergarten through 5th grade in 3 districts and 15 schools in Grant County/Deming. Artists share their talents and enthusiasm with the children in the area of their expertise with age appropriate activities to stimulate, encourage and broaden children's senses and interest in the arts.
Mr. Lathrop, Principal of Stout Elementary says: "We love the PNM Fine Arts Friday Program. It is the spice of life. It breaks up the monotony, keeps the children excited, and brings in a high quality of performers." Mrs. Miller, Principal of Bayard Elementary states: "With our partnership with the Mimbres Region Arts Council we've had a wonderful experience, and with the artists coming into our schools actually teaching the students and staff in the area of their expertise. We have enjoyed this partnership for the last six years and look forward to continuing it. We appreciate the funding by the PNM Foundation that makes this program possible."
