Youth Mural Program
"Downtown Tile Project - Phase 2, Ranching & Nature" - Broadway & Texas (Winter/Spring '08)
Located in the heart of Silver City's Arts and Cultural District, this meandering tile mural was created by students in grades 5-12, working with local clay artists, Kathryn Allen and Zoe Wolfe. Students took oral histories of a local rancher, explored the flora & fauna of Grant County and local brands. Brands adorn colorful tiles that face steps on the corner of Broadway and Texas streets. Along the high curbs are images in ceramic inspired from oral history and nature.
