MRAC Print Project Portfolio
MRAC Print Project Reception
When: Friday, March 11, 2011 from 5-6:30 pm
Where: The MRAC/Wells Fargo Gallery, 1201 N. Pope Street
The Mimbres Region Arts Council will host a Spring Gallery-Opening Reception on Friday, March 11, 2011 from 5pm-6:30pm at the MRAC Wells Fargo Gallery, located in Wells Fargo Bank at the MRAC Office Suite. The reception celebrates the artists included in our 1999, 2004, and 2009 Print Project Portfolios. The framed collections will be on display through the end of April. During the show, a very limited number of portfolios will be opened and prints will be available on an individual basis. The individual prints will be available beginning March 11 while they last. No additional portfolios will be opened during this year for individual print sales.
The Print Project, a benefit for the Arts Council, has been created at 5-year intervals bringing together a collection of prints from exceptional area artists. The prints range in form from monotypes to etchings, linocuts and woodcuts to digital images. The limited edition prints are produced by each artist and one of each is gathered into a handsome handmade portfolio which sells for $500. These are truly collectors’ items.
The project is the brainchild of local artist and business owner, Diana Ingalls Leyba, of L & I Arts. The first project, launched in 1999, was a huge success with funds generated for MRAC Youth Programs. The portfolio includes a wide variety of artist expressions, styles and methods and is a way for local art enthusiasts to collect a piece from many of their favorite Silver City artists all at once, and at the same time benefit the Mimbres Region Arts Council.
In addition, a special 2009 Print Project Portfolio coffee table book is also available for $40.
