MRAC in the News...

Catch the Kid!
Saturday, September 17th

Sponsored locally by Silver City Arts & Cultural District, community members gathered to create a cast for the "Billy the Kid" shoot out on Yankee Street at 10 am, 12 noon and 2pm.  The Elks Club was there to help us with crowd control...dressed in western attire.

At 2:30 pm there was a special proclamation read to Billy the Kid by Museum Foundation President Liz Mikols.  It was a hoot.  Also Pete Kennedy, Cowboy Poet, wrote an awesome poem about Billy the Kid.  (Poem is available for print on request)

There was a Cowboy Karaoke Contest... participants were judged on western attire, presentation and singing ability.  They were allowed to sing a country western song.  1st prize was $100 cash sponsored by 1st New Mexico Bank and 2nd and 3rd place prizes were sponsored by New Mexico Gas Company.  Click for much more information, and download the flyer here.

Thank you to those who attended the MRAC Annual Meeting

Thanks everyone for a wonderful Annual Meeting! We want to again thank all of our incredible volunteers and board members who gave so much of their time to make this year so successful for the Arts Council. We particularly want to thank outgoing board member Marcia Smith for her contribution to so many events and programs and her invaluable help in the office. Marcia's willingness to help with any task, no matter how small and menial, or large and challenging, was a great support to the staff. We will miss her as a board member but know that her support for MRAC will continue.
