The 2nd Annual
September 11,12 & 13, 2009

Celebrate the close of summer at Mimbres Region Arts Council's second annual Pickamania! — a FREE bluegrass, folk, Americana, roots and singer/songwriter festival in the heart of southwestern New Mexico. This year's headliners include the Pine Leaf Boys, Mollie O'Brien, Anne and Pete Sibley, Finders & Youngberg, Boris McCutcheon and the Salt Licks, Fish Tank Ensemble, Adobe Brothers, Dusty Buskers, and Melanie Zipin and additional performances will embellish the weekend to provide guests with non-stop entertainment.

This year, the Arts Council is excited to introduce the High Desert Brewery of Las Cruces, which will serve handcrafted microbrews in the beer garden. For the first time, the beer garden will be part of the park, facing the stage, making the performances visible from within.

A vendor alley featuring artisans from throughout the Southwest and beyond in addition to delectable cuisine make this festival a MUST for all music connoisseurs.
The free festival is outdoors allowing attendees to enjoy the fine late-summer weather in beautiful southwestern New Mexico.

One-of-a-kind, handmade guitar to be raffled at Pickamania!

For only $5, Pickamania! raffle ticket holders will be entered in the second annual Pickamania! raffle of a handcrafted wood and inlaid abalone guitar to be given away just before the final performance Sunday at 4:35 p.m.
This year, Silver City guitar crafter and renowned luthier, Don Musser and his apprentice Dan Swanson created a wood and inlaid abalone guitar in honor of the second annual event and the Arts Council.
Musser has created guitars for numerous famous guitarists including Bono of U2, Neil Young, Tom Petty and more.
"Eddie Van Halen owns one acoustic guitar and that's a Don Musser!" Swanson said.
Musser said the piece is comprised of a dreadnaught of mahogany from Honduras and a top of Engleman Spruce from Colorado.
He explained that creating the piece was an honor due to the value of the Arts Council in his life and that of thousands of other individuals.
"It's like a center of focus for cultural activity," Musser said. "It adds richness to our community and it's just such a wonderful part of where we live."
Tickets for the raffle are on sale at 1st New Mexico Bank of Silver City, the Pickamania! Founding Sponsor, 1928 U.S. 180 East, at the MRAC Office, 1201 Pope St., and at the MRAC Website. The retail value of the one-of-a-kind instrument is $3,000.
