AWARDS & RECOGNITION

The MRAC has been rated one of the top three Local Arts Council in the state by New Mexico Arts, a division of the
Department of Cultural Affairs, for the years 2002.

“Working with MRAC is a real pleasure. They always make sure we get plenty of advertising exposure for our investment. The events and presentations they produce are always top quality and draw huge crowds. MRAC really contributes to a higher quality of life in Grant County. The tourist draw they produce is an economic generator for the area. I think the investment we make with MRAC is one or the best investments we can make in our community.”

Lanny Olson, owner, Holiday Inn Express of Silver City

“How do you do it? Every year the Silver City Blues Festival gets better.

 Naomi Laffinghans, Riverside Mesa

“I sometimes stand back in awe, because in today’s world withall the conflicts, the war, the many troubling social issues, the Arts Council produces events where people can be happy, smile, enjoy one another,
enjoy life. They are not fighting or finding what is wrong, they stop in their busy day and are inspired and rejuvenated by experiencing life¹s beautiful
gift - the arts”

 Sabrina Pack, Silver City Radio

“We were just in Silver City for the Pickamania event,
and we want to tellyou how wonderful it was! The
event was well planned and organized, and your city
very interesting and friendly to visit. We also attended
the children's health fair in the park near Gough Park
with our 5-year-old, and that was excellent too! We
stayed two nights in the Palace Hotel, spent too
much money in Toytown, the Pinos Altos trading post,
and several other stores, ate out three times, filled
our gas tank, and generally left a chunk of money
in Silver City, and we're happy about every
penny of it!

We hope you sponsor Pickamania again next year
so we can come back and enjoy your hospitality again.”

 Nancy Potenza, Family Literacy Coordinator

“The downtown area of Silver City has experienced revitalization due in large part to the arts and cultural expansion. With the help and encouragement of
the Mimbres Region Arts Council, this expansion
has broadened the overall economic base of Silver
City and Grant County, benefiting all its residents
with inflows of capital from entrepreneurs and
tourist dollars.

I encourage the support of funding to organizations
such as Mimbres Region Arts Council who, under
the direction of Faye McCalmont, have helped to
create another economic building block for
our community.

 Sean Ormand, President/CEO ,
First New Mexico Bank of Silver City
